Dell M5200n laser workgroup printer with a box design and a slight arch at the top front, this printer measures 17.2 inches wide by 20.2 inches deep by 16 inches high and weighs 45 pounds. The black and gunmetal gray plastic material matches the Dell PC color scheme. The Dell M5200n has one USB and one Ethernet port attached to the back of the printer (cable not included). The single-line LCD command center mounted on the front of the printer allows you to set the resolution and toner level, select the printer language, and access the network menu.
The Dell M5200n features a 500-sheet input tray placed on the bottom of the printer, while the outputs are placed on top. The front panel opens to reveal a multipurpose tray for letterhead, envelopes, and thicker media. Its extendable plastic guide feels thin enough to break easily. For heavier paper, the back door opens to create a straight paper path.
Dell M5200n performed competently in CNET Labs testing. It prints text at 19.3 pages per minute (ppm) - far less than the vendor's rated 35ppm machine speed, and slower than the HP LaserJet 4200's 24.2ppm, but slightly above average compared to other lasers in its class. Dell outperformed HP printing graphics, averaging 10.7ppm to HP's sluggish 7.7ppm. Numbers aside, the Dell M5200n should be very fast for casual workgroup use.
